近期，中国人民解放军军事医学科学院李慧艳研究员团队、张宇程副研究员团队以及周涛研究员团队合作在Cell（IF=64.5）上发表题为“Innervation of nociceptor neurons in the spleen promotes germinal center responses and humoral immunity”（脾脏痛觉神经元的神经支配促进生发中心反应和体液免疫）的研究论文。在该项研究中，研究团队证明了痛觉感受神经纤维（nociceptive sensory nerve fibers）不仅沿着脾脏血管广泛分布，而且能够深入到B细胞区。脾神经支配的痛觉感受器（nociceptors）主要来源于左侧T8-T13背根神经节（dorsal root ganglia, DRGs），促进脾生发中心（germinal center, GC）反应和体液免疫。痛觉感受器可通过抗原诱导的脾前列腺素E2 （PGE2）积聚而被激活，释放降钙素基因相关肽（CGRP），进一步促进早期脾生发中心反应。在机制上，CGRP通过其受体CALCRL-RAMP1经环化AMP （cAMP）信号通路直接作用于B细胞。通过摄取辣椒素激活痛觉感受器可增强脾GC反应和抗流感免疫。研究团队建立了一种促进体液免疫的特异性DRG-脾脏感觉神经连接，这表明通过靶向痛觉神经系统来改善宿主免疫是可行的方法。
